15-hour AFTR-Exempt Tax Preparer Package
This package satisfies the full continuing education requirement to be eligible for the IRS Annual Filing Season Program Record of Completion for PTIN holders who are NOT required to complete the 6-hour AFTR course. It includes courses listed below, which satisfy the following categories:
- Federal Tax Law - 10 hours
- Federal Tax Updates - 3 hours
- Ethics - 2 hours
All course materials are provided as PDF files that can be downloaded from your account immediately after purchase, exams are administered online and are accessed by logging in to your account. The IRS requires a passing score of 70% for each course. Exams can be retaken as many times as needed at no additional cost.

10-Hour Federal Tax Topics
|This course is designed to meet the 10 hour federal tax law requirement for the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). This course is divided into 2 parts. Part 1, Education Expense, details all of the various types of tax benefits and savings opportunities available for education. Covering Qualified Tuition Programs (529 plans), the American opportunity credit, the lifetime learning credit, student loans, tuition and fee deductions, Coverdell Education Savings Accounts, Education Savings Bond Programs and much more. Part 2, The Benefits of Roth IRAs, describes the benefits of a Roth IRA as compared to its traditional counterpart. It also covers contribution limits, eligibility requirements, rules for converting one type of IRA into another, and rules governing the withdrawal of funds.|

3-Hour Federal Tax Law Update
|This course is designed to meet the 3 hour federal tax law updates requirement for the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). This course examines the current tax changes effective for 2018 that are more significant from the perspective of an income tax preparer. Context is provided, as appropriate, to assist in understanding the changes. A brief discussion of the individual taxpayer provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 is also included.|

2-Hour Ethics for Tax Preparers
